The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round is located at 221 Appleton Street (Route 141) in Holyoke, MA, about a two miles off of Interstate 91's Exit 16. It's a beautifully preserved 1929 Philadelphia Toboggan Carousel that Jay ran at its former home, Holyoke's Mountain Park, until the park closed in 1987. A grassroots effort spearheaded by Holyoke's John Hickey and Joe and Angela Wright saved the merry-go-round for the city and it continues to operate year-round in its beautiful new building. Karen began courting Jay there when they first met. Jay operated the ride for the first three years at its new home and then handed the reins over to a successor. The ride holds a special place in their memories, and it continues to make new memories for generations of families in the area.
